Bananas for, um, well, bananas!

Last night, I have no idea what possessed me to do this, but apparently something snapped in my brain and I thought it was a good idea to let Sophie (almost 6 months old) feed herself some bananas. Perhaps I can attribute it to happiness that the Red Wings won game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals (and that I actually got to watch it). Can anyone guess how many spoons we went through? Yes three, ladies and gentlemen! Sophie can chuck those spoons pretty far! Here is some of the evidence:

Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty

Yesterday, Jon's family and us three took a trip down to Battery Park to visit Liberty Island. We got on the boat and Sophie was perfect, as always. Here's a shot of her in her cute hat and her big girl stroller:

Here are a few shots that I took with my cell phone of the Statue, from the boat and from the area directly below it. Gustave Eiffel (who designed only my favorite monument EVER) also designed the support for the Statue, which was a gift from France. Inside, they let you look up into it and they had replicas of the face, foot, etc. The last photo is a sign that made me smile.

One more milestone for Sophie, other than the first time being in a taxi, on the subway, and on a boat. Using a sippy cup!!! What a big girl at 5 1/2 months:

On Monday, Sophie experimented with her high register voice, while entertaining Mommy and the customers in the Apple store while Daddy bought his new computer. Here is a video from later that night, after she had prunes for the first time (excuse the mommy voice!):

She likes to do her high-pitched squealing mostly when it's nap time, or after I sing to her. Of course. :]

And here are a few photos of the prunes she missed:
