Yesterday for the double dark, the fam and I spent the day at the Denver Zoo. It was a wonderful day, well, until when we got home Sophie decided she was going to scream instead of take her bottle. I'll give you a minute to let this sink in. Sophie. Refused. A. Bottle. In her nine months of life, she has never even thought about refusing the bottle. Um, have you SEEN this girl? She's the same size as the 18-month-old on site! We ended up giving her the only thing she would take: YoBaby yogurt. It's our go-to if we're in a hurry or in a pinch. It must have felt pretty good, being cold on her gums. She must have really been in serious pain. Poor baby! But I digress... The zoo. It started (and ended) really well. Free parking (who can say no to that!) and we just happened to walk by a woman who had a pass, so we only had to pay for one ticket. They had a really amazing array of animals and the atmosphere was very friendly. Here are a few pictures of the statues around the entrance.
When we stopped for lunch, there were peacocks just walking around, doo do doo. Sophie wasn't scared at all, either. Plus it wasn't crowded at all, so we had plenty of room to move about as we wished, without being rushed or on a schedule.
Here are some other cool pictures we took.
Hanging out with Daddy by the lions.
Lastly, in the gorilla exhibit there was a little boy (probably around 3 or 4) who asked his mom about the 'Big Daddy' gorilla sitting apart from everyone else: "Did he get sent to time-out?" Ahh, children. I still giggle when I think about that! I can't wait to tell you all the funny/cute things Sophie comes up with someday. We saw a mommy and a baby goat that were having a hard time keeping their eyes open. I know another cute kid (get it? KID?!?) with exactly that same problem.
Sheesh, I was THERE and that makes me go "awww!"
