When I was in sixth grade, I came to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, for the very first time with my Grandma Bearss and my cousin Jenny for Spring Break. My mom and brother came to stay for a few days also. It was my first time out of the state, I think, and my first time flying. It was amazing. I remember we stayed in a tiny hotel with two pools (!) where we met these boys from New Jersey who had funny accents. They wanted to buy us a hot dawg and newspapuh. We crossed the street to swim in the ocean and to get ice cream. Every night for a week I got blueberry cheesecake in a sugar cone. My cousin always got something with a lot of stuff in it, and my Gram always said she didn't think someone should chew ice cream. It always made me laugh! We took a special trip to Miami to the zoo (where my cousin and I wore our special sunglasses and matching outfits. We were so cool back then!) and to Lion Country Safari. Since we were in town now with Cirque, we thought Sophie may enjoy seeing the animals. Boy, were we correct on this point! They had a drive-thru part and a walk-around part. Both parts were way cool. Here are a few shots I snapped that day.
Blame it on the little guy, with his one horn!
