Kamakura and the Great Buddha

We decided to visit the Great Buddha in a small town near Kamakura. The train ride was about an hour from Shinjuku, and Sophie was very well behaved. We took two trains, from Shinjuku to Kamakura, then to Hase. The train to Hase looked like a trolley. You could tell it was a bit older, but very well taken care of. It almost reminded me of something at Disney. At the train station there were a few small coffee shops and gift shops. They had maps and a free Great Buddha stamp even. It was pretty cool. Once we arrived, there was a small walk to the park where the Buddha was. It was a very cute small town with restaurants, gift shops, a 100 Yen shop (set up pretty much exactly like a dollar store in the states), and other hand made gifts. I got a little handmade change purse for 100 Yen. There was also a surf shop or two, since the town was right on the ocean. It was amazing that we used to live on the other side of THIS ocean. There were a few surfers out. We followed them and took a few pictures. I REALLY liked it here.
